Film Study Guides
ATOM, through its publications arm (Metro and Screen Education magazines), produces study guides and educational kits for feature films, documentaries, television programs, exhibitions, etc.
Over the last ten years, ATOM/Metro magazine has produced film study guides for Screen Australia, BBC, Roadshow, 20th Century Fox, Hoyts, Ronin Films, Hopscotch Films, Icon Films, Paramount Pictures, Madman, SBS, the ABC and many others.
The study guides are written for teachers and students in primary and secondary schools and tertiary institutions. Metro magazine has a team of curriculum experts from all curriculum areas who view the programs to decide whether or not they can be linked to the curriculum and, if so, then recommend what year levels and subject areas are appropriate for that particular program.
All ATOM film study guides are available as PDFs. They are made available for free download for approximately eighteen months at http://www.metromagazine.com.au. After that, hey are migrated to The Education Shop.
Other downloadable resources available from The Education Shop include articles from Metro and Screen Education magazines, as well as Ryebuck Media’s SOSE and curriculum material.
We have also recently developed our first ATOM film study guide apps for iPad. These are available from the iTunes App Store. ATOM study guide apps for Android are currently in development.
